Eh, Steve!

My empty box arrived today. I was out picking up groceries when it came, but Jenn was home to sign for it. I packed up my Xbox and took the bus out with Jenn when she went to work, and now my old Xbox is waiting to be picked up and taken back. So far it seems like a tie between MDG and Microsoft, but I figure that if my replacement comes by Nov 18th Microsoft wins. The annoying thing is that I have two more days of work left, this wednesday and thursday, and then I'm off for seventeen days. What will I do? I won't be playing video games! It's probably for the best though, I should get in some quality time with the accordion (I haven't practiced since May, I'm a bad monkey), maybe swim. I've got a list of around the house type tinkering that I want to get done, so that will be my chance.

In other news, Vcon approaches! It's this friday, in fact. It looks like Jenn won't have time to make my tricorn hat, and I haven't finished my mask or bought a pistol yet, but it's not too bad. I just found a felt cowboy type hat at a dollar store that might work as a base, or even if I just colour the outside trim with a permanent marker and pin up three sides, it should be okay. I've also phoned the costume rental place by the hobby shop on 6th St. and they have plastic flintlocks, so I'll be going out there tomorrow to pick one up, since I'm already going out that way to get some comic books and green hair dye. That just leaves my mask. Of course, I don't know where the base got to, so if I can't find it before I go out tomorrow I might just buy something, but Jenn might know where it is. In the mean time, I promised I'd help make bias tape. I have to wash the dishes first, and I should probably fold laundry, but I'm thinking I'll be able to get around to it.

Several months ago, a fabric store in Guildford was having a clearance sale, where Jenn and I loaded up on patterns, especially costume patterns. We also picked up fabric for some historical costumes we intend to use for Halowe'en, although it was this pattern that had me stoked ) Speaking of V-Con, We were talking with Bill the other day, and he mentioned getting a room at the hotel for the con. Which made me consider doing what the folks who go to Dragon Con do, which is getting a large room to share for the weekend. Anybody interested in doing this with us?
