Jenn and I picked up Firefly a while ago, and we've been steadily making our way through it. One thing I've noticed is a similarity between one of the characters on Firefly, and one from another show she insisted on picking up:

Anyone else see it?

And for those of you who care, check out this Lego model of Serenity.

It's been a while since I did a Lego-related post, and I feel the need to share this. Here is a model brought to you by the same folks as the mini-mizer, and it is what I call "intelligent design".

Saw the doctor today, he gave me the choice between two sleeping pills. The first I would take only on nights before I work just to knock me out, and when I didn't work the next day I would just sleep naturally. The second I would take every night for a week to normalize my sleep schedule, and then wean myself off of them. I asked if regular exercise would help, and he said not so much, especially if I were to exercise in the evenings I would be too wound up to sleep. I chose the second option for my prescription, and the doctor said the risk of psychological addiction was lower with that option anyway, which was comforting. I got the prescription filled at Save-On-Foods while I did my grocery shop, and in the pharmacy I saw the Greens+ vitamins I used to take. I remembered that I felt more energetic and alert when I was taking them regularly, so I picked up a bottle, and hopefully those plus the pills will get me back to my old awake at work self.

As an aside, check out this balrog. Or, if you prefer slightly less demonic things, a smurf house.

It's been a while since I found something cool on brickshelf for people to look at. This is the awesome. If you look at the last two pics, you should recognize the red and yellow droids if you are at all cool (I'm looking at you when I say this, Tim!)

On a side note, I finished the Essential Incredible Hulk the other day. The Leader is awesome, and the Abomination is also neat, although he only lasts two issues when introduced. Aside from that, most of the villians are kind of stupid, not to mention the one issue where Hercules is randomly on a train an fights the Hulk. There were also a couple continuity errors in what made Bruce Banner change, so all in all, the only reason why the originals are worth money is because they're old.

Well, the power is out in my room. And the bathroom (both of 'em), as well as half the kitchen (but not the fridge or stove). I'm bored and I want to play my Xbox, but I can't. The manager was informed yesterday and said she'd be up in a bit, which I took to mean sometime that day. So now it's saturday, and I'm not sure if there are electricians who work saturdays, or if the assistant manager won't call because they charge more. I've read the Tenant's Agreement Act, and this does seem to qualify as an emergency repair, so maybe if we haven't heard anything by tomorrow we'll just call an electrician ourselves. So here I am, bored. Hey, look what I found! This is both ingenious and disturbing, not that that combination appeals to the majority of the people I know.

Not much to say since friday, just the usual. Just discovered that Shaolin Soccer is out, I need to see that sometime.

This is cool:

This is coolest, hands down (I have to make one!):

This on the other hand, is not cool:
http://www.straightpride.com
I'm not ashamed to be straight. It's part of who I am, and I feel no reason to hide it. I guess that means that I have straight pride. I saw this site, and it's mostly just a place where "Straight Pride" t-shirts and stuff are sold. I thought it was kind of cute. Then I discovered that the message was primarily one of opposition to gay marriage. What the hell does gay marriage have to do with being proud of my heterosexuality? The annoying thing is that if I went looking for white pride on the internet, I'd probably find all sorts of supremacist crap there too. I want to email these people and point out that you don't have to be down on someone else to be proud of who you are, but they're probably inundated with that sort of thing already, given that the "Hate Mail" section of their site is offline. I mean, homophobia vs. freedom of speech is one thing, but these people are giving me a bad name. Here's a thought: how about all us straight folk buy some of these shirts, take pictures of us wearing them beside some people in other pride shirts with rainbow flags, maybe throw on some of those "We love and support our gay and lesbian friends" pins, and bombard these jokers with high resolution pictures (as per their request) thus glutting their inboxes?

Last night I finished Splashdown on Normal difficulty, and this morning I unlocked the end movies for all the characters currently unlocked. Now I just have to beat the game on Hard to unlock the bonus track and character. Pretty much the only other thing I accomplished today was cutting the greens. Now I'm just waiting for Jenn to get home from work so we can eat chips, drink booze, and watch a movie together.

Check this out.

is that I never update my blog there, so I end up describing several day's worth of stuff.

April 16: Made SPAMpuffs for Kalev's wedding reception in the morning. Then Jenn and I went to Surrey Place and bought a wedding present. Picked up a new cellphone (email me if you want the number) and ate some poutine. Cut the greens. Jenn went to work and I skipped a party because I was feeling blah and played on the Xbox.

April 17: Kalev's wedding at noon. It was bilingual and we ate fancy food, which was really weird (spinach leafs and pea shoots with flower petals and raspberry vinagrette) but good. Fancy food always leaves me craving McDonalds Cheeseburgers, especially ones that have been sitting under a heatlamp for too long. Played more Xbox and brought SPAMpuffs to reception by transit.

April 18: Sunday tea at Jenn's. It got loud, so I hid and played Xbox. I was hoping a couple quiet people would follow and play with me, but meh. I went home.

STEVE PRESENTS WEIRD STUFF!

Actually, most of you have seen this already.

But this should be new. The coolest use of bionicle type stuff.

Yep, default! The two most beautiful words in the english language. Also why Kavin is the winner of the "what does this crap mean?" contest. Don't worry, though, when I said the prize was a "lap dance of wow", that was just a simile.

Also, a wedding update. Jenn and I are booked for the Carpenter's Hall. I found a pattern for my clothes for the wedding, too. Arr.

Today I returned Splashdown, which is the only Xbox game I've found that Jenn likes, so now I want to try to track it down at EB Games. No luck so far, but I did get the Hulk.

There was a time when I would have said that rap and Lego don't mix. I would have been wrong.
